What’s happening in the North West…
Pete Cartner is having a well earned break off his reporting duties, but returning soon, thanks, Pete Nutt
With good weather for the season opener at Lancashire Mining Museum (last edition), the Manchester St Georges day parade was well attended. The usual route attracted big crowds, especially in the city centre. There were a couple of ‘mechanical incidents’ one being the M38 behind me ‘running out of electricity’ half way round requiring our Lightweight to jump into recovery mode. The following Saturday brought the Mottram show, originally an agricultural annual show, now with a growing military presence.
The Sunday after we had a 1940’s themed event at our old favourite venue Healey Dell. Another well attended event along with our Mid Lancs branch friends. We are always made welcome by our host Erlando and are so very grateful for his catering.

Late May brought a new event. The British Legion at Westhoughton Cricket Club (105 anniversary). I was expecting a couple of vehicles at best, but rolling onto the cricket club revealed… a field full of military vehicles, weapons displays, ambulance with full display, field guns (later live fired) and a Ferret, driven by Jamie who it was a pleasure to finally meet after Facebook correspondence.
