What’s happening in the North West…
Pete Cartner is having a well earned break off his reporting duties, but returning soon, thanks, Pete Nutt
It’s the slow season. If like myself, it’s the time of year (post Christmas to Easter) where your military vehicle activity is very low, this is the difficult report, normally I’m prone to gushing somewhat and have to trim back. I see from posts on the various facebook groups that some of our, possibly more youthful brethren, are out and about at minor events come rain or shine, or even snow! Not to be outdone our final 2025 season event and an important one, remembrance day, reported in the last edition. Also as promised a couple of pictures from our Christmas party at Waterfold Farm pub/restaurant near Bury. The place was packed to capacity when we arrived, they were obviously used to big numbers as they performed what seemed like a logistical miracle and soon we were all seated and fed.

Our low season spirit lifter, ‘the frostbite run’ on new years day, cancelled last year due to poor weather, went ahead without problems. In later years we have kept new years day activity to a run out to Healey Dell, which limits exposure to prospective bad weather and gives us a great meeting space with refreshment and yet again a chance to meet with others from our adjacent MVT groups. I’m pleased to say Pete Cartner was present and in uniform. I missed this event, as my vehicle was unavailable, it is tucked up in the local garage for minor repairs which are ‘taking a long time’ not something we are normally happy about but I’m hoping will be complete when spring breaks…if you get my drift.
